The reward is mounting and police in Traverse City are continuing to ask for the public's help in finding the person responsible for a local woman's death in a hit and run.
On July 5th, a vehicle struck Kelly Ann Hurlbert from behind while she was riding her bike on Washington Street in Traverse City.
The driver left the scene. Hurlbert was pronounced dead at nearby Munson Medical Center.
Traverse City Police Captain Mike Ayling said the department is asking the public to come forward with information regarding what they may have seen or heard since the crime occurred.
"The most recent information we have is 2 witnesses we have that observed a vehicle leaving the scene of the accident that they described as a black smaller sized pick-up of SUV. A third witness, who seems to have had a slightly better vantage point, described the vehicle as a silver or light gray 4-door SUV. We believe there will be minor damage to the front end of the vehicle which may include a vertical rub mark from striking the rear tire of a green bicycle," Ayling said.
Local businesses and individuals have raised a $50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for this crime.
People with information regarding the case may leave anonymous tips by calling 231-947-TIPS.
