A Northern Michigan newspaper, the Morning Sun, reports its parent company is filing for bankruptcy for the second time in four years.

Published reports say Journal Register Company, or JRC, is filing Chapter 11 bankruptcy to shed legacy costs. These costs include significant debt, pension liabilities and long-term leases on buildings no longer in use.

The Morning Sun is one of JRC's 18 newspapers. It is not believed at this time that their pensions will be affected.

Employees who have written about the bankruptcy have a positive outlook on the future of their newspapers.

But no one was available for comment.
