A cable company that that once provided TV service to parts of rural Michigan has been banned from doing business in the state.
Pine River Cable was accused of operating without franchise agreements with local governments, as required by Michigan law, and of not responding to customer complaints.
That led the Michigan Public Service Commission to fine the company 65-hundred dollars, and ban them from doing business in Michigan.
Judy Palnau is a spokesperson for the commission.
"Today's order also directs the company to repay to customers any unearned fees for cable service that was not provided," said Palnau.
At one time, Pine River Cable's service area included Maple Rapids, Marion, McBain, Carson City and other rural communities.
