Police in Roscommon county are asking for the public's help in identifying a man they say sexually assaulted a 12 year old girl at a local convenience store.
Officers say the girl had gone into the store with her mother last Thursday. When the mother turned a corner away from the girl, the suspect approached the girl and assaulted her.
Police say it appears the man followed the 12 year old with the intent of assaulting her.
Roscommon county Det. Sgt. John Wybraniec who is investigating the case says the man was only in the store for about two-minutes and never acted like he was planning to buy anything, "it's not as though he even ran out of the store. I mean, he was very calm, very collected, just walked right out the door. And I can only tell you from experience, that leads me to believe, that little girl is probably not the only victim.
Wybraniec says he's concerned that the man may travel and target children in other communities.
