The Buena Vista School District will open its doors to students this morning, for the first time in over two weeks.
The district was forced to close its doors, on May 7, after it ran out of money, following a freeze in aid payments from the state.
Those funds were frozen after it was revealed the district improperly received 400-thousand dollars in funding this year.
But the state has now approved a deficit elimination plan for Buena Vista freeing up enough funding to close out the school year.
The district also remains in a state of financial emergency, it owes two-million dollars to the state, 500-thousand dollars to Saginaw County, and has a one-million dollar budget deficit.
School officials have not ruled out merging with another district before the new school year begins in September.
