The water levels of lakes Michigan and Huron are lower than they've ever been before.
The lakes set a new record in January for the lowest mean average for any month in history.
Michigan and Huron each stand at 576.02 feet above sea level, breaking the old record by three-hundredths of a foot.
That record was set in March, 1964.
The news comes just days before Governor Rick Snyder is expected to announce an emergency dredging plan for Michigan harbors.
The state counts on tourism and other industries that require access to the lakes, something that is becoming increasingly difficult given the low water levels.
All of the Great Lakes are currently below their long-term averages.
